Back to color!  We’ve covered the Pantone 2012 Color Trends, and there are yet more color trends to consider, but these 4 tendy pallets are the flip-side of the same coin.

Pantone sets the color standards for all industries, but Benjamin Moore expands on the Pantone’s color trend predictions to creates thematic visions that splash color trends across your home.

Understanding similarities creates a color launch-pad for your signature color pallet. Color is a tool that works within any budget, so it’s well worth a look!

Benjamin Moore’s theme for 2012 is “Preservation” and includes four color palettes, representing variations in that theme.

In the words of the presenter, Doty Horn tradition embraces the past; lace work; taxidermy; hand-weaving, large gauge knitting, hounds-tooth plaids, repurposing elements, saturated hues, rich earth colors, camel color, bronze shimmer.

Benjamin Moor’s vision for “Process” is The Journey – nature inspired, graphic
and urban site activated design; blocks, terrariums, hydroponics, crowd sourcing
and labs – green is on the rise, charcoal, concept plus color; digital meets organic.

Here the inspiration is a focuson the female body. Padding, quilting, recycled, caging, spikes, nails, broken glass, bandaging, protective outside with feminine undertones; pearlized – all told, a less than comforting metaphor of the fairer sex; hmmm…  Finishes are gold ascending; black is the new black; dulled pink and fuchsia.

The ENLIGHTENMENT PALLET

The image makes me suppress a smile, remembering GaGa in the egg being carried down the red carpet…

Enlightenment finds its inspiration in introspection – the question is “do you believe?” –
rebirth, future, the egg, orbs, rounds, prisms, mirrored images, light vs. dark, shadow art, luminous; oxidized – glowing. While the theme gives pause for reflection, that is allot to project on room design! Last I checked, design is supposed to be fun! Back to that later…
